Lotus Notes Processing – Technical Details

Case Study — Lotus Notes®
Processing
(PDF)
Lotus Notes mail repositories are processed and printed natively.

Lotus Notes allows for significant customization of data and items that are placed in NSF files. The Exego platform process handles standard e-mails and calendar items that are created by the default Lotus Notes client and use the (standard/custom) forms that come with the NSF file. It is possible that these forms do not print all of the information in the format and we do not manually redesign forms to change the printing.

The Exego technology default process identifies the data items/forms listed below in Lotus Notes NSF files. Other document types are listed as “Lotus Notes Other” as the document type and only the Creation/Date Time, Last Modification Date/Time and the Author (owner of the NSF file) metadata items are delivered. This includes any custom forms and/or metadata that third parties may have added (either to existing forms or new custom forms).

Due to the varied means of encryption and securing access to NSF files, it is not always possible to process either the NSF file or individual items within the NSF. At times it may be possible to extract the meta-data and text, but not to be able to print the Lotus Notes item. In particular, when customized forms and software were used to create the data it can prevent the proper printing and/or metadata extraction of these items. We will contact the client when these issues arise.
