Mr. Cochran has been involved in all aspects of data management since 1985. After serving in the public sector as a Staff Assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury James Baker, he moved into the discovery management market and served as a senior project manager, consultant and executive with top tier discovery management companies. He has managed large intellectual property, product liability, complex financial fraud and environmental cases utilizing state of the art technology and best practices for corporate and law firm clients. Before joining Planet Data, Mr. Cochran was President and co-founder of Cerulean, LLC, a leading international information management company. Cerulean developed The Cerulean Engine, a patent pending ESI processing platform.
Having worked on different litigation practices across the US, EU and Asia, he offers Planet Data clients global experience in discovery management. Mr. Cochran speaks regularly on litigation technology management at conferences around the world. He develops custom plans for corporate clients in the areas of virtual deal rooms, bankruptcy data management, convergence, data mapping, early case assessment and facilities management.
Mr. Cochran is the author of the popular eDiscovery blog Dave Cochran’s Corner and has written articles such as “Betting the House – Virtual Deal Rooms”; “CIOs on Trial: A Check List for eDiscovery and Litigation”. He also teaches a CLE certified course on data collection.
Mr. Cochran is on the Advisory Council for the Organization of Legal Professionals. He is also a past President of the Washington Elementary School PTA in Mt. Lebanon, PA, Member of the Penn State President’s Club, Nittany Lion Club and Lifetime Member of the Penn State Alumni Association.
Mr. Cochran has a B.A. in Political Science from The Pennsylvania State University.
