Elmsford, NY – June 19, 2009 – PLANET DATA, a leading global provider of high-quality and cost-effective legal discovery management services, today announced its Statement on Auditing Standards 70 (SAS 70) Certification, awarded by the American Institute of Certificate Public Accountants (AICPA).

SAS 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the AICPA as an important resource to show the effectiveness of a service organization's internal controls and data security safeguards. Officially titled "Reports on the Processing of Transactions by Service Organizations" it is well known because it represents that a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control objectives and control activities, which often include controls over information technology and related processes.

Planet Data Chief Operating Officer David Cochran said "By gaining this certification we offer further assurance to our clients that security and customer service is paramount. Our internal control and security policies have now been evaluated and reviewed by an independent third party, highlighting our commitment to information security, compliance and infrastructure."

In today's global economy, with the sheer speed and vast quantities data can be transferred, service organizations or service providers must demonstrate that they have adequate controls and safeguards when they host or process data belonging to their customers. In addition, the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 make SAS 70 audit reports even more important to the process of reporting on the effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting. The SAS 70 report addresses all five components of internal control outlined in the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, namely the control environment, risk assessment activities, control activities, information and communication systems, and monitoring activities.
